Printable Easter Bunny Rabbit Party Favor Treat Box

Hippity-hop! I had so much fun designing this bunny box for treats. After making the first one, of course they bred like rabbits into a set of 5 colors.

It's a printable design that fits on a single page and can be hand cut and assembled.

There is a spot on the back to type in your own message into the PDF file. Notice the fluffy tail? It's made the same way I made the Easter Egg Spaceship. It's easier if you have a circle punch.

All that's left is filling it up with your sweet treats! It's stuff like this that makes me feel like a kid again! The bunnies can be found in my Etsy shop.

Bonus owl box designs!

I have been having so much fun with my owl boxes that I can't stop making new colors.

The first blue/green color choice was inspired by my nephews. This bonus pink/orange version has now been added to the Etsy listing.

I couldn't leave my grey Halloween owl alone, so have paired him with the classic snowy white owl, like Hedwig from Harry Potter.

You can type whatever message is needed on the back to customize it for your party. I designed this pattern to be easily cuttable by hand, but for those who prefer a cutting file version, it's coming soon!

Halloween Owl Box (printable and editable PDF)

I've been thrilled with the feedback on my various Halloween party favor boxes and wondered how my owl would fare as a gift box for fright-night.

I found some fun tricks (glow in the dark bat, tattoos, erasers, and springing toy) at Walmart and it wouldn't all fit in my other boxes, but they fit just fine in this one with room to spare.

Just like my previous owl box, you can type whatever you like on the back of this editable PDF. It's now available in my Etsy store - thanks so much for looking!

I created this owl box for readers who don't have a digital cutter because I had requests for it after my first ATC card. However the tiny cuts are quite challenging to do by hand, so this box is a compromise. Happy haunting, everyone!

FREE Printable Snowflake and Candy Cane Party Favor Treat Box

I'm thrilled about the response I've been receiving from my free Halloween Ghost Party Favor pattern so of course I had to follow it up with a Christmas version! In this case, two patterns!

I'll repeat the steps here so you don't have to go back and forth:

1) After printing the file in color, you will need also need scissors, 1/8" hole punch, double-sided tape, and about 6 inches of 1/8" width ribbon.

2) Flip over the sheet (left to right). Place double-sided tape along the left edge and along the top right as shown by the arrows. Remove a small portion of the wax along the left and fold it down (do not remove all the wax yet).

3) Keeping your fingers on the waxed portion, roll the sheet into a tube, overlapping the gray diagonal lines. When it's aligned and straight, press the exposed adhesive. Gently pull more wax off, then press to adhere. Repeat until you have a completed tube.

4) Remove all the wax from the end of the tube.

5) Guided by the small gray line, pinch the top end closed.

6) Guided by the two small gray lines at the bottom end, pinch closed, then fold the end over toward the back. Unfold and fill with treats.

7) Punch a hole in the bottom middle. Fold your ribbon in half and thread it through partway. Take the ribbon ends and thread it through the folded ribbon, then pull until taut.

8) You're ready for a merry party!

Printable Owl Party Favor Box

Earlier this year I made an owl for a meet up group and enjoyed the enthusiasm that followed. I realize not everyone has a digital die cutter, so I kept it in the back of my mind to make a hand cuttable version that more could enjoy making themselves.

I love how a simple curve makes a classic pillow box puff out and knew I wanted to make that to form the ears, but wanted to make a flat bottom for stability. The stash can be accessed either from the top or bottom.

The simple wings gently curled, then glued to the shoulders and everything prints on a sheet of 8.5x11 inch 65lb card stock.

Of course, the ultimate party favor is one that is customizable. There's lots of space on the back for that and it'll show up purple and in this whimsical font.

I prefer using a dried up pen for scoring because I enjoy the precise ball bearing rolling along my surface, creating a fine line. I also prefer double-sided tape over glue because it's quick to set the tab, but I'll use the glue stick when adhering the wings so I can still adjust as I go.

I hope this printable owl gives you a hoot! You can find it my shop.

Printable Halloween Skeleton Coffin Party Favor Box

Two years ago I designed a coffin that folded together without glue (an homage to origami). I wanted it to be strong and am proud of how the friction fit lid will stay snug even when full of candy. However, the intricate design benefited from a digital die cutting machine's precision because I gave allowance for thick card stock.

Since then I've had requests for a hand cuttable version and I'm finally happy with this version. I really wanted to make a hinged lid so you'll only need to print 1 sheet per box. The coffin bottom has 3 sides with doubled over paper for rigidity. The lid has 2 tabs that lock into the bottom to prevent horrifying spillage.

It's fun to print it on different color stock and in this case I roughed up the toner to make it look worn and old on kraft card stock, but it also looks great on metallic silver.

This pattern is now available in my Etsy store. Wishing you a boo-tyful night!

Printable Vintage Invitation for Birthday, Shower, or Retirement

It's no secret that I have a passion for both die cutting and quilling. What's better than finding ways to combine my two worlds? I'm being entranced by 3D quilling in the sense that the strips are not fully glued down along its edge entirely.

I like how the coils are left scrolling in mid air, casting soft shadows – don't they seem even lighter this way? As a quiller, I admit I have to hold myself back from finishing off the uplifted coils, but when I stand back, I really like how romantically playful they are. It might be too subtle, but I even gently rolled the edge of the ivory paper background to give even that flat surface some dimension. Somehow it reminds me of the romance between Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

For years, I've admired Victorian wood cut illustrations. It never ceased to amaze me how artists in those days conveyed light and shadows in line art because technology didn't allow for shades of grey. Today I can capture the shadows cast by my ribbon banner, sculpted out of matching yellow paper.

After photographing and adding text, I can now customize this piece (via my Etsy store) for anyone who would like to make a printable invitation, whether for a birthday, shower, or retirement party. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Printable quilled thank you card and envelope

I'm so excited to introduce my new blog and paper direction! Paper Zen describes both how tranquil I feel when working with paper, and the enlightenment I hope my work gives others.

I'd like to thank all my previous readers of Crafting Creatures and any new ones who've found me here by giving you my quilled Thank You card. It's a printable PDF with score/cut marks to make a 6" x 4" card. It'll be for sale in my Etsy shop afterwards, so grab it while it's free.

I also designed a matching fillable envelope (simply type in the recipient's name). It has score marks and trimming outline as well.

I have always loved the retro look of banner ribbons, a vintage look that's come back in style big time. I used my Silhouette digital die cutter to cut the banner, then shaped it just so. A simple die punch made the flowers which I sculpted with a burnisher. The quilling is 3D, because I didn't glue it all down so it's more free flowing, casting soft shadows. Lastly I shot a photo of the layout, then added my text following the curve. I thought brides and grooms could also use this card to give their guests because yellow and grey seems to be quite a popular combination lately.

Until Aug 16, 2013, if you leave your email in a comment below, I'll send you a downloadable link for my printable card. If you have time, I'd be grateful for your thoughts on my new work, how it prints on your printer, or how the recipient enjoyed it – thanks!

DIY Soccer Jersey Placecard

Since blogging about the soccer themed place cards made for my nephew’s baptism, I’ve been asked about them numerous times. I used an electronic die cutter (Silhouette) to cut them out, but there’s no reason why it can’t be done by hand.

I’ve made a PDF with fillable name and number to print out. You can cut them by hand or use the SVG files on your electronic cutter (Cricut or Silhouette with Designer software).

Please credit my blog and I’d love it if you could comment with a link to your blog or a photo of how your project looks. Your enthusiasm keeps me inspired!

Die Cut Jersey Place Cards

These place cards were cut in the shape of soccer jerseys, with each name and table number showing the guests their seating.

A hazard of printing all the way to the cutting edge on coated card stock is powdered toner flaking off. A nice way to pick up all the toner is to wrap packaging tape around your hand with the sticky side out. Gently skim the surface of your paper, picking up the toner before it has a chance to coat the adhesive mat of your die cutter, thereby ruining future adhesion. Note to self: leave a white margin next time!

If you’d like to cut these jerseys, here are links for a fillable PDF (yes, it'll look just like the font you see here), SVG, and DXF file.
