Quilled E Monogram with Fringed Flowers



So I made a monogram for a friend who is turning 40 and requested a no gift policy – well, I'll still be able to say "I didn't buy anything." I wanted to show the flowers bursting forth in different stages of bloom. The "moat" which corrals the quilled flowers ends up hiding the quilled base from most angles; tilting the blossoms on their sides doesn't hurt either. I designed each flower pattern and cut them digitally on the Silhouette.


I’ve just discovered Moxie Fab World through a reader’s post of an intricately quilled heart, by Sweet Spot Cards. MFW have weekly challenges in their side bar, and I was pleased to find the right stuff in my stash for their “Pretty Pastels Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World“, shown below:

    OMG! Awesome! Thanks for the shout out. I ADORE my silhouette too. It can do SO much! I just recently used the print and cut feature and was literally squealing like a little girl. Happy quilling and paper cutting! ;)

    Thanks for the enthusiasm everyone! Soraya, I have been thinking about selling my flower patterns on Etsy soon. I have wanted to buy a quilling fringer for years but now that I have a digital cutter, I love that I can make it look more than just 90˚ cuts. Stay tuned for more!

    SO gorgeous! I thought that the flowers were fake plastic -- I can't believe that they're from paper and that you designed them yourself! I see that you have some cutting files in your Etsy shop, but I don't see the flowers -- do you sell the flower pattern? They are absolutely stunning!

      Thanks for your wonderful comments {blush}! Yes, each petal and stamen were hand colored one at a time, just to get the subtle monochromatic color scheme I wanted.

      I've been trying to get through my to-do list to sell them but have been letting other projects get in the way. I'd love to sell them one day...

      Hi Lorene, I'm thrilled to tell you I have made the rounded petals available on my Etsy store. PLUS I'm really happy I stalled because I made all the joins rounded so a dullish blade won't "pick" at tight corners. Thanks for giving me that extra little push to get this project done!
