My Craftsy Experience

After months of preparation, I can finally tell you all about what it was like being a Craftsy Instructor. My class is called Quilled and Sculpted Cards, a combo of both my two loves. It's available later this month and you can bet I'll be doing a giveaway!

They really know how to make you feel like a rock star! Here is the filming studio, complete with my personalized dressing room.

When I put all my prepared cards on their shelf and looked up and saw their logo on the brick wall, just as I had seen in other Craftsy videos, it really hit me - I'm here! I'm doing this! It's real!

This is a teleprompter and Rudy the Rooster hand puppet, who I crocheted way back. I sat him up there to remind me to keep looking up, rather than what I normally do at home, which is to get so involved in what I do that the whole world fades away.

When I look back on this memory, I'm happy that I pushed past my fears of being in front of a camera and made it happen. There is good stress and bad stress in life. This was definitely good stress, and now I know what I'm made of.

    1. Hi Colleen, I'm so glad you commented - thank you! You're right, they need a beginners quilling class too. The thing is they have quite a few digital die cutters so melding the two worlds was the right fit at this time. But you never know! Maybe everyone else will chime in and ask for a beginners quilling class too!

  4. It's been so exciting hearing your news about your class! I've shared it on my blog today to get the word out there. Years ago I asked them about paper quilling classes but they weren't adding any at the time. Hopefully this is the first of many paper quilling classes that they will feature. Well done!! I, too, am an introvert. I've been working on trying to record a tutorial for Youtube but my first one I had to completely scrap because it wasn't in focus (my daughter was helping me hehe). Need to try again, but it's hard to set everything up and find the time. At least with photo tutorials I can do a bit here and a bit there and stop when I need to. Anyway, I hope your class does really well!!

    1. Hi Honey, thank you SO much for sharing my work on your blog! How lucky am I?!? You're so right - I was hoping for paper focus forever too! And for them to choose me?!? Let's both keep trying to do the video thing. I've wanted to do it too but was too chicken, but I guess I can't use that excuse anymore! Thank you for all your sweet, sweet words and support!
